Trips to the Tonquin Valley depart from the Portal Creek/Tonquin Valley Trailhead approximately 10 km south of the town of Jasper. Guests have the choice of travelling by foot or saddle and packhorse up into the valley. The five hour ride covers 14 miles(23 kms.) of spectacular alpine terrain. The outfitter chooses the horses on the basis of each individual's ability.
