Those who prefer to do their exploring on foot will find endless new territory to discover and enjoy in a quiet peaceful setting.

Photographer’s Paradise

Guests who enjoy taking pictures will find themselves in a virtual paradise. There is a wide array of wildflowers, as well as numerous types of wildlife; including mountain goat, caribou, moose, bear, osprey and eagles.

Self-Guided Tours

All our hiking guests are self guided. We require our hikers stay for a minimum of 2 nights. We highly recommend hikers leave between 8 and 9 a.m. to ensure they have adequate time to reach our lodge. Most of our hiking guests arrive mid afternoon.

Upon arrival you will check into your cabin as well as given a camp orientation to help familiarize yourself with our surroundings. Our meal times are at 8:00 a.m., noon, and 6: 00 p.m.

Hiker’s Package

The hikers package includes your own cabin, all meals and snacks as well as, access to the boats and canoes on Amethyst and Moat Lakes.

Fees For Day Rides & Gear Transportation

Please be aware that the hikers package does not include dayrides or having your gear brought in on horseback. Day rides are for those guests who sign up for the horseback package.

During these 3 days, our riding customers have the opportunity to ride 2 of the 3 days. We always ensure our horses have one day of rest each trip.

Departure Point

Portal Creek Trailhead:

Portal Creek Trailhead is located just off the Marmot Basin Ski Area Road. The drive time from the Jasper town site approximately 15 minutes.

Directions:

Drive south on Highway 93 from Jasper 7.5 km to the junction with the 93A Highway.

Turn right onto the 93A and follow South for 2.5 km to the junction with the Marmot Basin Ski Area Road.

Follow the Marmot Basin Road for 6.5 km to the point where it crosses Portal Creek.

Park in the parking lot on the left side of the road South of the Portal Creek.
